Summary
Photographs of Albany Harbour and the town from the harbour. Note what appears to be a gas lamp on the jetty in 016855PD.016861PD shows a welcome banner for the visit of the U.S. White Fleet in 1908. The photograph was taken by E. C. who has not been identified. During an event called Fleet Week in Albany the United States navy Great White Fleet visited Albany 11-18 September 1908. The Great White Fleet was the popular nickname for the U.S. battle fleet that completed a circumnavigation of the globe from 16 December 1907 to 22 February 1909. 016859PD, 016860PD, 016863PD, 016864PD are probably also related to this event. 016866PD 016859PD has a military band but the man leading and those behind appear to be wearing masonic aprons.
