Summary
This recording is of various messages sent in 1963 by the Aboriginal people of Ethel Creek station. It includes a message sent to Mikalong; messages from Bulloo Downs Aboriginal people to Ethel Creek community describing the Bulloo Downs muster and messages sent from the Ethel Creek community to the desert Aboriginal community of the McKay Range. The messages were recorded by Mr. Snell, a government dogger and Teresa Anderson of Ethel Creek Station. They are in local language and include some singing. Also included is correspondence (dated 1963) between Teresa Anderson (Ethel Creek Station) and Mollie Lukis (librarian, Battye Library) relating to the tape and explaining the history of the messages.
