Item Detail
Summary
The photos were taken in about July/August 1981 on the inaugural Kimberley Safari tour into the Kimberley wilderness with Sam and Rosita Lovell. Sam was the tourist guide and driver of his Toyota 4WD (extended chassis) bus. Rosita was the driver of their Toyota Coaster bus which also served as a mobile kitchen and transport vehicle - carrying the camping equipment and provisions. Rosita would drive on accessible roads and tracks each day and park up at a pre-determined campsite ready for Sam to arrive at the end of each day. Sam would drive across often virgin bushland and countryside in his 4WD explaining infinite details as the tourist guide. Sam had grown up in this area as an Aboriginal stockman and knew all the area in much detail.
