Summary
This is the family story of Margaret Mary Winchcombe who was born in Busselton in 1930. Both of her parents, Arthur Wilson and Ruby Hogg, were born in England. Arthur came to Australia as a young man and enlisted in the Australian Army.They married in England in 1919 while Arthur was on shore leave from World War I. After marriage and the end of WWI they came to Australia. Margaret was raised in Busselton with her brothers John and Barry and her sister Beryl. All attended Busselton Primary School followed by Bunbury High School. Margaret met her husband Brian when she was 16. Brian served in Borneo during WWII. Following the war they were married in 1952. Margaret and Brian have four children. Daughters Nerria and Libby and son John were adopted. Margaret then fell pregnant and had another daughter Anne Louise. Margaret relays many stories relating to the development of Busselton and Dunsborough, including many of the original business owners in the area. Margaret is still involved in her community and enjoys her book club, naturalist club and local theatre group.
