Summary
Michael (Mike) John Smith Bignell was born in Busselton in 1942. His grandfather, Percy Bignell, was a pharmacist who came over from Melbourne and set up a business in Queen Street in 1889. After the discovery of Ngilgi Cave in 1901 his grandfather switched to transport and tourism. Mike worked managing the family's dairy farm for three years before setting off to other opportunities. Later in life Mike came back to Busselton and worked to redevelop the Busselton golf course, alongside building up real estate and building companies in the area.
