Summary
Trevor was born a twin on 19th August 1956 in Perth, Western Australia. He attended Mirrabooka Senior High School until Year 12 and went into the Public Service for 12 years and within that some time was spent as a registrar in the Electoral Commission. He joined the Army Reserve. After marrying he transferred to the Air Force Reserve and in 1988 joined the Police Force. From August 2001-June 2002 Trevor was in East Timor with the Federal Police as part of the United Nations’ supervision of that country’s first ‘free and fair’ elections. He was posted to Oecussi, a western enclave in the mountains of East Timor. With his past experience working for the Electoral Commission in Perth, he was given the responsibility for the logistics of the elections in the Oecussi enclave. Only six of the sixteen polling places could be accessed by road. There were no major incidents and Trevor received a commendation from the Canadian Commissioner. Trevor was the secretary of the Busselton Sub Branch of the RSL at the time of this interview and is appreciative of the opportunity for him and other service personnel to record their experiences.
