Summary
The PCH’s Multi-Faith Centre on Level 5 provides a calm and welcoming space for time-out, prayer, meditation, quiet reflection and counselling for people of all faiths, spiritual backgrounds and those of no religion. An average of 20 to 25 people use the centre on any given day. The Multi-faith Centre has a collection of sacred texts and symbols from a number of faith traditions. Within the Multi-faith Centre is a book in which patients, staff and families can write prayers or messages. These prayers are remembered and honoured by the Chaplains. A Salat Room (prayer room) provides opportunity to meet the daily worship needs of people of the Islamic tradition. Washing/ Wudu facilities are available with separate male and female prayer areas. The adjoining courtyard is a serene area available to all visitors as a place for relaxation, contemplation and reflection. Chaplains are available to provide pastoral and spiritual care for staff, families and carers from all religious and non-religious backgrounds. BA2493/2086: The Counselling Room (private room with window wall) and the Family Room both look out to the courtyard. BA2493/2087: The Male Prayer Room in the Multi-Faith Centre. The Salat Room (prayer room) provides opportunity to meet the daily worship needs of people of the Islamic tradition. Washing/ Wudu facilities are available with separate male and female prayer areas. The note on the prayer wall reads: “Dear Brothers and sisters, Juma prayer will be held at 1pm @ PCH musallah inshaAllah. Please always put your shoes outside near Wudhu room. Thanks”. BA2493/2088: The Multi-Faith Room with stained-glass artwork incorporating symbolic references to a number of religions. It was commissioned by Princess Margaret Hospital Ex Trainees and Nursing Associates Inc, and unveiled and dedicated on 21 September 2018, to honour the nurses of PMH and PCH 1909 to 2018. BA2493/2089: The Islamic Washing/ Wudu facilities (ablutions room for worshippers to prepare prior to prayer).
