Item Detail
Summary
This heritage listed building was constructed circa 1897-98 as a terrace of three residential dwellings in Federation Queen Anne Style and later named after Tom Burke, who was Federal Member of Perth from 1943-1955. Today the premises are also known as Homeswest Lodging House, providing low-cost housing for residents in the inner city and Northbridge area. The building is currently undergoing extensive renovations and this photograph captures one of the few two-storey late 19th century residential terraces still remaining in the Northbridge area. Formerly 191-195 Newcastle Street, now 153 Newcastle Street, Perth.
