Summary

Black Swan STC - Caucasian Chalk Circle - group shot, photographed in rehearsal room #1 at the State Theatre, corner William and Roe Streets, Northbridge. BSSTC’s first international collaboration – with National Theatre of China (Beijing). guest director Wang Xiaoying, vice-president of the National Theatre of China, whose staging of this Chalk Circle as a Chinese parable brings it full circle to the original tale that inspired Brecht. The costumes were designed by Zhao Yan and the masks by Zhang Huaxiang both Beijing based Chinese theatre professionals. Set design was by Australia’s Richard Roberts, and music by Nyoongar composer Clint Bracknell. Black Swan’s 25th anniversary year is the inspiration of exiting artistic director Kate Cherry. The performance ran 30 July - 14 August 2016 at Heath Ledger Theatre (W.A. State Theatre).
