Item Detail
Summary
Book caption: One of the most remarkable plants of the desert sandplains is the subshrub Leptosema chambersii, which occurs here and there among the spinifex clumps. A leafless plant with a mass of rigid, prickly green stems, it produces a mass of showy flowers at ground level around the base of the plant. This presumably indicates that the flowers are visited and pollinated by some ground-dwelling creatures, perhaps mice. North of Bandya station.
