Item Detail
Summary
Book caption: "Sandplains in the Great Victoria Desert have a spinifex cover, and frequently, where the sand is deep, have groves of the beautiful marble gum, Eucalyptus gongylocarpa, which may also occur less commonly on the sandhills. This tree is the most important character plant of the Great Victoria, occurring nowhere else but within the confines of the desert in Western Australia and the adjoining part of South Australia. The spinifex here is Triodia basedowii, looking rather dried up in this photograph, under poor seasonal conditions. West of Neale Junction."
