Item Detail
Summary
Book caption: Mallee (eucalypts in a short, many-stemmed form) is not a well developed formation in the Wheatbelt, occupying usually narrow bands between woodlands of the valley soils and the kwongan of the sandplains on the higher ground. Mallees have an intermediate soil with a sandy wash over loam, and an intermediate flora with many understorey plants shared with the woodland on the one hand, and the kwongan on the other. E. redunca seems to be the most consistent mallee species. Dongolocking Reserve near Dumbleyung.
