Item Detail
Summary
Book caption: Around the larger lakes, such as Lake Moore in this case, the influence of salt is spread around a wide marginal belt since salt particles are blown by the wind from the dry lake bed. A zonation may then occur with samphires (darker plants on right) closest to the lake and saltbush (lighter, grey-coloured plants). Saltbush is Atriplex, a world wide genus, and there are several Australian species. The ground in between is occupied by annuals which are grazed by sheep.
