Summary
Book caption: One or the most showy shrubs in the Kalbarri sandplain, when in flower, is Grevillea leucopteris, called ‘old socks’ from the bad smell of the flowers. Never pick them and take them home! It is a pioneer species regenerating after fire or roadside disturbance, and frequently forms a 'hedge effect' along the main road through the park. Like a number or the grevilleas, the bush develops special floral branches whose function is to bear the flowers and fruits waving high in the air above the bush itself.
