Item Detail
Summary
Book caption: The woody pear Xylomelum angustifolium is a characteristic small tree of northern kwongan on the deeper sands, and gives its name to the Banksia-Xylomelum association. It can become a small tree of 4–5 m. The white flowers are borne in summer and are thus not often seen by visitors, but the pear-shaped woody fruits are conspicuous. The tree belongs to the Protea family, and the fruits like those of Hakea contain two winged seeds.
