Summary
Book caption: The Swan Coastal Plain is essentially a low lying sandy plain of Quaternary deposits at the foot of the Darling Scarp, although it also includes the Dandaragan Plateau in the northwest. The most widespread and characteristic plant formation is the banksia low woodland comprising three species of Banksia with Nuytsia and Eucalyptus todtiana. It is at its most beautiful stage in November–December in those areas, principally between Perth and the Moore River, where the yellow morrison, Verticordia nitens, occurs. Banksia attenuata will be in flower at this time, as well as the occasional tree Nuytsia floribunda (W.A. Christmas tree) seen flowering in the centre of the photograph. Moore River National Park.
