John Gilbert Marsh discusses his early life, family and growing up in Harrismith and Kalgoorlie; studied engineering at the University of Western Australia and the Imperial College and specialised in bridge construction after joining the Main Roads Department in 1947 and worked in the Bridge Engineer division. Talks of his involvement with different bridge constructions in Perth and throughout Western Australia - Causeway, West Swan, Gascoyne, Narrows Interchange, Mandurah, Mt Henry Bridge; and the different structual designs, techniques, materials used in bridge construction - timber, concrete, steel, rubber, prestress methods.
