Joss was born 1947 in Rhodesia, migrating to Western Australia in 1956 with his parents. He discusses his early life on a cattle farm in Rhodesia and his move to Hill Station (now called Waterbank Station) on the outskirts of Broome. He recollects many aspects of station life including the employment of aboriginal stockmen and his special relationship with them and his connections to Country. His recollections add to the historical knowledge of the Western Australian pastoral industry in the Kimberley Region. He describes the establishment and operations of the Broome Meat Works.
