Summary
Trevor was born in a little village, Waterlooville, in Hampshire, England. He discusses his early family life, migrating to Western Australia at age 4 with his parents and older brother and sister. Trevor settled into Guilford, Western Australia in the 1950s, canoeing with his brother on the river, attending Guildford State School and Governor Stirling High School; and training at Grayland Teachers College as a primary school teacher. He attended W.A.I.T. and got his Bachelor of Arts. The focus of the interview is on his children's book, Mason Judy that was published in 1977. At the beginning of this year, the State Library of Western Australia acquires the entire collection of Robert Juniper's artwork from the book. The inspiration for the book came from the Dreamtime myths and stories written about by Charles P Mountford. The central characters are based around the aboriginal characters from the Dreamtime. Discusses Robert Juniper's involvement and illustration of the book.
