Item Detail
Summary
The Loreto Bell tower was constructed at the Loreto Convent, Claremont in 1937 and stood there until 1977, when Loreto Convent amalgamated with St Louis's College and became John XXIII College and moved to Mt Claremont. The bell tower was rebuilt in Northbridge when the designers of the new tax office building needed something to cover the air vent for the underground car park on the corner of William and Francis Streets. The bell that had been inside the tower stayed with the school, and is in the chapel at John XXIII College.
