Summary
Two pictures. First caption reads: Speed: There are two extremes in naval construction - fast speedboats and 45,000 ton battleships. The speedboat is a valuable asset to the Navy. It is fast and can be navigated in shallow, narrow waters where larger craft cannot pass. Carrying torpedo tubes, it can deal a death blow to corvette or battleship. It is a difficult target. Second caption reads: HMS Malaya, one of Britain's most powerful battleships., rides heavy seas in the Mediterranean in a sweeping search for enemy vessels. The Malaya took part in all the major Mediterranean operations - from shelling Italian bases on Libyan coast to pounding bases in Italy. It would be prominent in the defence on Gibraltar.

This image is part of a collection of 69 albums of pictures, postcards, and newspaper cuttings donated to the State Library of Western Australia in July 1961 by the family of the late Mr Miller. Jack Edward Miller was employed as a boatman and cook by the Harbour and Lights Department in February 1902 and spent some time at Breaksea Island lighthouse near Albany. Newspaper clipping.
