Summary

These photographs are mostly of Boroondara the Duncan farm at Ongerup, WA. George Oliphant Duncan (1888-1960), his wife Phyllis Martha (nee Fletcher) (1900-1981) and his sister Margaret (Meg) Duncan took up a war service block in the locality of Toompup near Ongerup in 1924. The developing wheat and sheep farm was named Boroondara after a Melbourne suburb as George was from Melbourne prior to serving in World War I and working on stations in the Carnarvon area. It was expanded in acreage in 1955. George and Phyllis had three children: Ian (b.1925), Joan (b.1927) and Margaret (Peg) (b. 1928). In 1950, Ian married Rosemary Chapman (b.1928) and they continued to farm at Boroondara. They had five children: Angela (b.1951), Elaine (b.1953), Sandra (b.1955), Caroline (b.1957) and Ian (known by his second name, Fred) (b.1962). Ian (Fred) Duncan and his family continue to farm the property. Fred Duncan found the negatives in the bottom of an old wardrobe in the original homestead in 1981.
