Summary
The Mt. Newman Iron Ore Railroad was built by Morrison-Knudsen-Mannix-Oman (MKMO) Joint Venture company for Mt Newman Mining Company. Earthworks began 15 October 1967 and the final line was laid round the mine railroad loop on 31 December 1968. (The Mt. Newman Railroad story (1969) The General Manager Mr A. E. Rogers spoke and the Premier Sir David Brand officially opened the railway Wednesday 22 January 1969.
