The Cosmo Newbery Mission was run by United Aborigines Mission from 1953 with Superintendent H. C. E. (Harry) Lupton. Missionaries Claude and Dora Cotterill where also at the mission in the mid 1950s.

Title devised by cataloguer. Many photographs taken by John Alexander Portman (except the ones he features in) Negatives found in six envelopes. Written on negative envelopes: Cosmo Newbery Mission - general view; Xmas at Cosmo Mission, picnic in the bush; Picnic in bush with Cosmo missionaries, Lapten [ie H. C. E. Lupton, Superintendent] and Cottril [ie Claude Cotterill]; Cosmo Mission. Old Warburton track; Cosmo Mission picnic. Mr & Mrs Cottril [ie Cotterill] Roma & father and myself; Cosmo Mission mother with babies Mr Lapten [ie Lupton] we are in the swimming pool. The woman in 130191PD has been identified as Rita Jennings nee Scott. (Information supplied by M. Scott July 2016)
