Summary

Aerial photograph of the International Terminal at Perth Airport, facing east from a position near the old control tower, on the west side of the airport. The new International Terminal was formally opened on 25 October 1986, and international operations moved there from the original 1962 terminal, which then became the Domestic Terminal. A McDonnell-Douglas DC-10-30 of MAS (Malaysian Airlines System – which became Malaysia Airlines in 1987) is on the left. To its right is a Boeing 747-244B of South African Airways – they ended services to Australia in 1987 due to Australia's opposition to South Africa's Apartheid Policy. Also visible is the new control tower, built in 1986 at the same time as the new international terminal. The tower is 80 metres tall, and was the tallest control tower in Australia for many years.
