Summary
Uncle Peter and Pongo commenced their activities at 6PR on 1 May 1932 and had immediate success with their Peter & Pongo's Prosperity Parade Club (6PR PPPP). A month after starting they formed a Birthday Club which by April 1933 had a membership of over 3000. At an appearance at the Ambassadors Theatre in early 1933 over 1400 children were present. (Sunday Times 30 April 1933, p.11) Uncle Peter was the pseudonym of Harold Lalor who later became a priest. Pongo was the pseudonym of Jim Grant who joined the Victorian Branch of the Radio Commission. The last reference to the entertainers appears in the West Australian of 10 November 1936.
