Summary
In 031188PD nearest wagon (I class 681) was replaced by a new wagon of a different type in 1924. (A.S. May, railway historian). Dockers are also known as wharfies, lumpers, longshoremen, stevedores, waterside workers and wharf labourers, working on Fremantle wharf. Note especially 031197PD where the dockers can be seen to be wearing protective coverings over their heads and backs for carrying the bags of wheat. An elevator gantry can be seen in use but still the bags have to be carried by men from the railway cars to the stockpiles and later to the ships.
