Summary
The Southern Cross was designed by Ben Lexcen and built by Alan Bond for the 1974 America's Cup challenge. She was launched by Mrs Dorothy Edwards (Governor Hughie Edward's wife) at the Yanchep Sun City marina in January 1974. Southern Cross then sailed with Gretel II. Dorothy Edwards is wearing the checkered pant suit, Eileen Bond is wearing the white dress with yellow trim.
