Olga Morozova was runner up at Wimbledon in 1974 and was ranked 3rd in the world at the time of this match.The Queenslander, Ross Case beat his friend and doubles partner, Geoff Masters to take out his first Australian state title. Mr Case severly sprained his thumb in the fourth set but still managed to take the game; 6-4, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6. The pair were forced to forfeit their doubles final the following day due to the severity of Case's injury.
