Summary
Aerial view of Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. According to the book "A Fair Sized Town" by Carolyn Polizzotto (1988), the hospital was originally known as the Perth Chest Hospital, built in 1958. Its main function was the treatment of tuberculosis. It was renamed Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in 1963. The hospital was re-named again in 1977 to The Queen Elizabeth 11 Medical Centre at the time of Her Majesty's visit. The land was originally used as pasture land for Browne's Dairy by Edward Browne.
