Item Detail
Summary
This image was received in two collections as the First Geraldton Railway Station. However, research by the Northampton Friends of the Railway has shown that this is in fact the first Northampton Railway Station (built to the same plan as Geraldton) which was on the outskirts of town near the Gwalla Church and sometime identified as the Gwalla Railway Station. The occasion was the opening of the station and the Geraldton-Northampton Railway in 1879. This station was later (1913) replaced by a new building in the town (Western Mail 27 June 1913, p.24)
Year
1879.
