Summary
Mr Blythe discusses his family background, childhood and education in Nannup. He describes growing up in Nannup and names some of the businesses and proprietors. He left school at 14 to work in a grocery shop. His second job was at the mill office. In 1950 he sold and delivered water around town, he then worked for Nannup shire, then went back to the mill as a truck driver and from 1961-1971 he had a milk round. He enlisted in 1942 aged 18 and in 1943 he went to New Guinea but didn't see action. He describes the timber and transport industries, social life and general history of Nannup. He also discusses the Nannup environment including gardening, wildlife and floods. He describes his 1995-99 term as a Shire Councillor.
