Summary
Dr Thomas Henry Lovegrove was the Principal Medical Officer for Western Australia, whose nephew Dr Fred Lovegrove was the Superintendent Medical Officer at the lock hospitals on Bernier and Dorre Islands, established for Aboriginal Australians suffering from venereal disease. This collection contains photographs of the Carnarvon region, including its Aboriginal inhabitants, Bernier and Dorre Island hospitals and Aboriginal patients, stereoscopes of an Aboriginal dance. It also contains portrait of Otto Libfert, taxidermist at the Western Australian Museum and photographs from his specimen collecting trip to Bernier and Dorre Islands.
