Information supplied by Donald Campbell from Karunjie Station: "man with open hands in middle is my father, Jack Campbell, Reggie Birch is the small kid with the floppy hat, Cyprian Birch, Murray Birch on front of camel, younger sister Helen Ridein, Pat Birch in middle, Rosie Beck. Man with hat might be Paul Chapman, at Singh Garden. Dad is wearing watch pouch." Regie Birch wrote a biography titled Wyndham yella fella (page 52) in which he mentions this event as happening when he was 8 years old in 1948.
