The photo is taken on the west side, with the original Perth-Fremantle Road in the foreground (now called Curtin Avenue). Looking east over the suburb of Mosman Park. The shelter shed at the far left was the original station building (built about 1893) and it used to be on the east side of the track. When the new station was built in 1897 it became the shelter on the other platform. The new station buildings at Cottesloe Beach, Karrakatta, West Leederville and Bayswater were all built at the same time in 1897 by the same builder. (J. Austin, railway historian)
