"In the Campion region of Western Australia, local residents enlist the help of gunners from the Australian Army to help control the emu population. Soldiers assemble their guns and fire at a flock of emus in long grass and out on the open plains. One emu is chased by men in a car and clocked running at 45 m.p.h." -- description from National Film and Sound Archive Website.Also referred to as the "Emu War" or "Great Emu War", this video depicts a nuisance wildlife management military operation to address concern about the number of emus in the Campion district of Western Australia. The efforts were largely unsuccessful, with further military assistance requested by farmers in 1934, 1943 and 1948.
