Summary
The Mental Health Inpatient Unit on Ward 5A, Level 5, Perth Children's Hospital. BA2493/2081: The common area, and beyond, outdoor area in POD 2 (Adolescent Ward) of Mental Health Ward 5a, level 5. The Mental Health Inpatient Unit on Ward 5A at PCH is the state-wide assessment and treatment facility for children and young people up to 16 years old with complex and acute mental health issues. Ward 5A is a recovery focused patient and family centred service. It offers a seven-day multidisciplinary program in a safe environment for voluntary and involuntary patients. The Ward has a total of 20 beds and is divided into two sections - a 14-bed acute section for children and adolescents who require a higher level of assessment, monitoring and treatment, and a low-acuity section with 6 beds for those who require less support and supervision during their treatment and recovery. BA2493/2082: The Winter Garden area in POD 2 (Adolescent Ward) of Mental Health Ward 5A, Level 5. BA2493/2083: The Common Area with Private single rooms off the side (each with window), at POD 3 - Low Acuity Ward. Cabinets have curved edges for safety in event of aggressive or self-destructive behaviour by patients. BA2493/2084: Typical Patient Room in POD 3 - Low Acuity Ward. The toilet/bathroom is equipped with a safety lock, and the door itself doesn’t continue to the full extent of the door opening, so staff can have access to patients if needed. BA2493/2085: Secure Nurses Station and Common Area, with TV placed in secure safe cabinet, at POD 3 - Low Acuity Ward. The nurses station is equiped with safety windows and is accessed using a secure door lock.
