Born in Holland John Rigter speaks of his parents and early memories of Holland -war years, father and brother forced labourers in Germany, schooling. His parents migrated in 1952, arriving at Bonegilla Migrant Camp Centre (Victoria); recounts early experiences as migrant - schooling, language, naturalisation. He speaks of his early career, and employment; entrepreneurial activities and starting small businesses in Geraldton - owned local grocery / supermarket businesses Geraldton (Marine Terrace / Wonthella); local historic sites - Commonwealth Hotel/ Great Northern Hotel/ Regional Library; Queens Hotel site - Super IGA store; Bites Restaurant; Bakers Tavern and Sunseeker Hotel. Beryl Rigter, who was born in Geraldton, discusses her parents and family background; father owned Nash Bakery; recalls memories of Geraldton and development of their businesses; employees; community involvement; and their family involvement in the business.
