Born in England, Norma Martin discusses her early years in Essex and the decision to migrate with her family to Western Australia in 1967, under the Assisted Passage Migration Scheme; early impressions of Perth and Point Walter migrant hostel; farming a 4000 acres Conditional Purchase Block of uncleared land at Indarra (near Mullewa) and growing lupins; 1971 purchased historic Belay Farm - established in 1858 by John Jones and discusses the restoration/preservation of original buildings; founded Walkaway Pony Club; purchased Island Farm (1982); established Martin's Mill to pellitise local grain; historic buildings in Greenough and Walkaway.
