Summary
Seventy members of the Commodores Association of Western Australia Inc. with their partners presided over by the President Peter Stallwood met socially in the Wardroom at the Fremantle Sailing Club on Sunday evening 24th August 2014 to celebrate their 30th year of operation and recognise their foundation members. The first meeting of the Association was held at the Royal Perth Yacht Club on 27th July 1984. Commodore Kevin Owens and Vice Commodore John Steffanoni of the Mounts Bay Sailing Club convened a preliminary meeting of Commodores, both current and past, at their Club on 9th December 1983 at which 28 Commodores agreed to form the Association. Kevin became the Foundation President. Both Kevin and John were conferred Life Membership of the Commodores Association of Western Australia at the 25th anniversary meeting in 2009. Kevin Owens subsequently moved to the Fremantle sailing Club where he became Commodore in 1994/5 to 6/7. He was President of the Commodores Association of Western Australia again in 1997 and 2003 to 2005.
