Summary
The Mt. Newman Mining Company iron ore mine on Mt Whaleback was officially opened by the Governor General at the top of Mt Whaleback on 26 June 1969. The 'Boomerang' grandstand was later relocated to the town oval. TVW Channel 7 filmed the event.
