Construction number: 17699/54 Rolled off the Boeing production line at Renton as a 707-138 - June 11, 1959. First flown - July 15, 1959. Entered onto Australian Aircraft Register as VH-EBD - August 3, 1959, registered to Qantas Empire Airways Ltd Departed Seattle on delivery flight to Australia - August 4, 1959. Delivery route: Seattle-New York-London-Karachi-Calcutta-Singapore-Bangkok-Sydney. Arrived Sydney at conclusion of delivery flight at 2019 hours - August 12, 1959. Aircraft was named 'City of Brisbane' Departed Sydney on its first commercial service Sydney-San Francisco - October 14, 1959. Carried 'Round the World' commemorative airmail - Sydney-London via Southern Cross Route to mark the 40th anniversary of Qantas - November 16, 1960 This air mail originated in Winton, Queensland and was carried London-Sydney via the Kangaroo Route by VH-EBB - November 19, 1960. Departed Sydney on returned to Boeing for conversion to 707-138B standard - October 8, 1961. Returned to Qantas at completion of conversion - November 17, 1961. Positioned to San Francisco to operate a regular flight to Sydney - November 18, 1961. New 'V-Jet' livery applied to fin & rudder at Sydney - November 21 - 23, 1961. Operated inaugural Sydney-Noumea 707 service (Capt K. Nicholson) - December 7, 1961. Operated inaugural Brisbane-Honolulu service - September 7, 1963 Operated inaugural Sydney-Singapore service - October 4, 1963. Operated inaugural Sydney-Nadi-Papeete service - November 22, 1963. Operated inaugural Sydney-Vienna service - May 24, 1965 Operated its final Qantas revenue service Sydney-Vancouver-Sydney - November 19, 1967. Used for British Eagle pilot training - December 1967. Cancelled from Australian Aircraft Register - January 5, 1968 Entered onto U.K. Aircraft Register as G-AVZZ - January 6, 1968. Sold to British Eagle - January 6, 1968 Aircraft was named 'Enterprise' Departed Sydney on delivery flight to British Eagle - February 1, 1968 Withdrawn from use and stored when British Eagle declared bunkrupt - November 6, 1968. Leased to Laker Airways (Leasing) Ltd - January 23, 1969 Sold to Laker Airways - February 3, 1969 Sub-leased to Nigeria Airways - March 1970.
