Summary
First visit by a Boeing 747 to Perth Airport, made by Qantas' first 747, VH-EBA "City of Canberra" on 3 September 1971. The aircraft is parked in front of a small terminal building which was later demolished to make way for the Qantas Domestic terminal. Visible parked close to the Boeing 747 are N724PA Boeing 707-321 of JAT Yugoslav Airlines; A65-91 Douglas C-47 Dakota of the Royal Australian Air Force, and a pair of Hawker-Siddeley HS.125 business jets. In photos 268827PD and 271592PD, 9V-BBB Boeing 707-312B MSA (Malaysia-Singapore Airlines) can be seen also.

Construction number 20009/147: October 1967 - Original order placed by Qantas was for four Boeing 747-100. June 1969 - Order cancelled and replaced by four 747-200 series aircraft – VH-EBA was the first Qantas 747. June 10, 1971 - Rolled off the Boeing production line at Everett. Powered by Pratt & Whitney JT9D-7A engines. July 8, 1971 - First flown as VH-EBA. July 30 1971 - Entered onto Australian Aircraft Register as VH-EBA, registered to Qantas Airways Ltd, Sydney. On the same day it was also accepted by Qantas at Seattle (Everett) and named 'City of Canberra'. August 13, 1971 - Departed Seattle on delivery flight as flight QF053D. Delivery route: Seattle-San Francisco-Honolulu-Sydney. Flight crew: Capts R. Probert, B. Fawcett, H.G. Manly; Flight Engineer B.G. Costello. Arrived Sydney at conclusion of delivery flight - August 16, 1971. September 3, 1971 - First 747 to visit Perth. September 17, 1971 - Operated first revenue service as flight QF727 Sydney-Perth-Singapore (Capt B. Fawcett). August 12 - 26, 1972 - Returned to Boeing (Everett) for wing modifications. February 16, 1976 - Returned to Boeing (Everett) for 10 abreast seating modifications. This ferry flight Sydney-Everett direct was first non-stop eastward crossing of Pacific Ocean, and the distance of 7,850 miles was flown in 14 hours 22 minutes. Flight crew: Capts F. Fox, K. Nicholson, L. Clark. April 20 & June 21, 1973 - Operated T.A.A. domestic service flight TN493 Sydney-Melbourne. February 17, 1984 - Operated final revenue service (before lease to Air New Zealand) as QF57/84 Sydney-Christchurch-Sydney. February 23, 1984 - Leased to Air New Zealand in full Qantas livery with Air N.Z. stickers. Operated first Air N.Z. revenue service same day as TE113 Sydney-Perth. April 1, 1984 - Operated final Air N.Z. revenue service as TE55 Christchurch-Melbourne, and on the same day, returned to Qantas on termination of lease. Returned to Qantas service same day as QF3 Melbourne-Sydney. April 30, 1984 - Operated final revenue service as QF93/94 Sydney-Nadi-Sydney (Capt A. Bones). Entered heavy maintenance with Qantas Engineering at Sydney for lease to Air Lanka June 4, 1984 - Rolled out at Sydney in full Air Lanka livery - aircraft was named 'King Ijijaway' (King of Vijaya) June 8, 1984 - Sold to Guiness Peat Aviation Group Ltd, Ireland and leased to Air Lanka. Departed Sydney same day as flight UL747B on delivery to Air Lanka at Colombo, Sri Lanka. Cancelled from Australian Aircraft Register on this date also. Aircraft had flown 41,433 hours and 14,693 cycles June 1984 - Entered onto Sri Lankan Aircraft Register as 4R-ULF. July 4, 1984 - Operated first Air Lanka revenue service as UL503 Colombo-Karachi-Zurich-London. November 1985 - Sold to Aerospace Finance Hong Kong Ltd - November 1985 September 1, 1986 - Leased to Qantas Airways and accepted in Singapore. On this date it was cancelled from Sri Lankan Aircraft Register, and entered onto Australian Aircraft Register as VH-EBA, registered to Squariol Limited, Hong Kong. September 2, 1986 - Arrived Sydney as QF129D at conclusion of delivery flight from Singapore. Aircraft had flown 48,715 hours with 16,943 cycles on delivery October 30, 1986 - Operated first revenue service as QF43 Sydney-Auckland. March 1, 1988 - Registered to Aerospace Finance Hong Kong Ltd. September 1, 1986 to August 7, 1989 - Aircraft remained un-named. August 8, 1989 - Aircraft named 'City of Ipswich' at Sydney. March 29, 1993 - Operated final Qantas revenue service as QF28 Hong Kong-Sydney - aircraft had flown 68,182 hours with 21,691 cycles March 30 - May 1993 Entered heavy maintenance with Qantas at Sydney. May 6, 1993 - Departed Sydney as QF501D on delivery to U.S.A. (Capt T. Jensen). Flight route: Sydney to Norton Air Force Base (San Bernardino, California) direct. July 29, 1993 - Ferried San Bernardino to Santa Barbara, California as QF501P. July 30, 1993 - Ferried Santa Barbara to Marana, Arizona for storage as QF502D. June 30, 1994 - Cancelled from Australian Aircraft Register. June 1994 - Entered onto U.S. Aircraft Register as N614AR. September 30, 1994 - Registered to AAR Aviation Trading Inc, Elk Grove Village, Illinois. March 18, 1996 - Ferried Marana-Waco, Texas. May 30, 1996 - Sold to Trans World Airlines (T.W.A.). June 1996 - Reregistered as N307TW to Trans World Airlines Corporation July 27, 1996 - Ferried Waco-Kansas City in all-white livery with new style TWA titles. August 1, 1996 - Operated first TWA revenue service New York (Kennedy)-St Louis-Honolulu. January 12, 1997 - Operated final TWA revenue service San Juan-New York (Kennedy) – January 15, 1997 - Ferried New York-Marana, Arizona for storage. May 30, 1997 - Sold to First Security Bank and leased back (stored) to T.W.A. Aircraft had flown 69,554 hours with 21,948 cycles September 1997 - Sub-leased to Aerolineas Argentinas, entered onto Argentine Aircraft Register as LV-WYT. September 17, 1997 - Departed Marana in full Aerolineas Argentinas livery. September 23, 1997 - Cancelled from U.S. Aircraft Register. May 26, 1998 - Sold to Pegasus Aviation Group with sub-lease to Aerolineas Argentinas continuing. May 1, 1999 - Returned to Pegasus Aviation Group. April 13, 2000 - Observed parked at Mobile, Alabama in all-white livery without titles. May 2000 - Entered onto U.S. Aircraft Register as N307TW, registered to First Security Bank of Utah May 22, 2000 - Ferried Mobile, Alabama to Marana, Arizona for storage. June 18, 2001 - Ferried Marana-Santo Domingo (Dominica) for lease to Aeromar Airlines. June 25, 2001 - Sold by Wells Fargo Bank Northwest to Pacific Air Corp 2009. Cancelled from U.S. Aircraft Register same day, and entered onto Dominican Aircraft Register as HI-758CA. October 22, 2001 - Observed stored in full Aeromar livery at Opa-Locka (Florida) - March 4, 2002 - Offered for immediate sale by Finova Capital Corp - aircraft had flown 74,686 hours with 22,776 cycles to date. March 25, 2002 - Entered onto Swedish Aircraft Register as SE-RBP, registered to Pacific Aircorp 2009 Inc and leased to Transjet, Sweden March 29, 2002 - Observed at Stockholm (Arlanda) in full Tranjet livery. July 10, 2002 - Transjet ceased operations and aircraft stored at Stockholm (Arlanda). January 12, 2004 - Cancelled from Swedish Aircraft Register, and entered onto Swaziland Aircraft Register the same day as 3D-NED. February 4, 2004 - Ferried Stockholm-Fujairah (U.A.E.) in full Transjet livery. February 28, 2004 - Observed at Jeddah, Saudia Arabia in basic Transjet livery without titles. Aircraft was being operated by Northeast Airlines. June 29 & November 11, 2004 - Observed stored at Muscat, Oman in faded Transjet livery. January 24, 2005 - Observed stored at Tripoli, Libya. Entered onto Upper Volta Aircraft Register as XT-DMS. December 12 - 29, 2006 - Observed at Fujairah (U.A.E.) with Kallat El Saker Air of Libya titles - Currently still flying in 2008 with Kallat El Saker Air of Libya. (Information supplied by D.
