The Western Australian contestants are Noel Sweeney and co driver Bob Hutchinson in a Jaguar Mark 7; Harry Smith of Narrogin; and Aub Melrose and also F.R. Haag of Cottesloe (Sunday Times 16 August 1953, p.3)The Western Australian cars were: Car no. 70 a Goliath driver Fred Haag; car no. 84 an Austin A40 with Aub Melrose; car no.99 a Peugeot 203 driven by Harry Smith of Narrogin; car no.137 a Jaguar Mk VII driven by Noel Sweeney.
