Summary
The wedding of Wentworth J. Winterbottom and Louisa Maud Wheatley. The wedding is described in an article published in the Mirror (Perth) newspaper 8 May 1908 and reprinted in the Manilla Express (NSW) 6 June 1908, p.2. The article concludes: "An unusual feature of this wedding is that motor cars were used for conveyances instead of the customary horse drawn carriages." There have been later claims that this was the first motorised wedding but the newspaper item does not indicated this and the major state newspapers (the West Australian and the Daily News) do not mention it.
