BA2843/107 found in envelope labelled: Memo by D.C. Cowan written in 1955: My mother Mrs E.D. Cowan gave these tiny silver brooches to members of her Election Committee in 1921. A friend had written early in the campaign that she had a tough nut to crack and this signified that the gum nut had been cracked.
