Item Detail
Summary
Book caption: "Before myxomatosis reduced their numbers, much damage was done by the rabbit plague on the Nullarbor. Rabbits existed in such numbers that they ate everything during times of drought, even the perennial blue-bushes. At this site north of Forrest on the plain, the bluebush had entirely disappeared except for the dead stumps which could be seen. Plant growth then consists only of the annuals, which may or may not sprout well according to the season. When this photograph was taken in October 1966 it was a poor year, and the annuals rather short, already drying off."
