Summary
At left, through the railings, can be seen the side of the temporary bridge built in 1907 to take traffic while the bridge was rebuilt during 1907-1908. (See a photograph published in the Western Mail 18 May 1907, p.28 showing the beginning of the temporary bridge) In this photograph is the second bridge at this location built in 1894. It replaced the original timber bridge generally known as the Beaufort Street Bridge (see another photograph at call number 7098B for a photograph of the old bridge) Shows details of the bridge, Ellis's Grand Central Coffee Palace, Town Hall in the distance.
